Chapter 8
most valuable technique learned from Chapter 8. Can you use it in all types of memorization? If so, why and if not, why not? The most valuble technique i learned was the three R's Record Retain and Retrieve. i believe i can use this types of techniques because everytime i try to concentrate in one thing other things are runing through my head for example other assignmens. sometimes its hard to memorize something that you don't find intresting or depending if you try to memorize something ovenight It is difficult
summary self-evaluation blog
The most challenging thing was putting my thought together. I wrote everything i wanted to talk about, but the difficult thing was puttin everything in sentences. That was the biggest challenge for me. i never receive a grade so i do not know how my essay was, but i do belive that my strenght are collecting my thoughts and knowing was i want to talk about basically i write a summary and my weakness i belive is puttin gmy thoughts together in sentences or paragraphs.

libby blog response
1. Do the author's survey results indicate that feminist is, by and large, a dirty word for her fellow students? what in the makes you agree or disagree?
I aggree and disagree because a lot of people believe that women are the ones who are feminist and guys cannot be defined as feminist. I believe that everyone has a feminist side in them.
2. What reasons does libby offer why there are not more selfidentified feminists?
One of the reasons is that " people don't consider themselves feminists is the negative connotation attached to the word"
3. Why does she think more people should identify themselves as feminists? Libby believes that "feminism is about giving women and men the chance to live the life they choose free of sexim, sex"

Anzaldua blog #2
Anzaldua does not write an academic essay she writes an essay that its different than the others because the language that she uses she uses english and spanish on the reading. Anzaldua's reading defines the different languages that we talk and how we speak the same language, but we speak it differently with each group of people we have a different style meaning the way we talk. we talk one way to our family another with our friends and manager or co workers.one of the quotes that i choose it shows that she does not write a traditional essay because she writes "and i think, do you tame a wild toungue, train it to be quite, and do you briddle i? how do you make it lie down?" in the reading she starts out with a story, but behind that story theres a point the main idea. Anzaldua also writes quotes in the reading thats what makes it a non traditional essay.

Anzaldua blog
Write About a time when you felt that someone in authority tried to silence you or critized the way you spoke.
In the past i have had an experience where people made fun of you because you did not speak english correctly. When i was younger i was attending middle school latinos will hang out with latinos. The school i attened it was mostly latinos. I did experience people critize the way i spoke. when i started school i only new spanish thats what was spoken in my house, but just yesterday i actually got into an argument with one of our customers at the bank. He was being really friendly at first he thought i was white and i notice by his last name that he was latino. Then he started telling me how he was upse and how he was going to sue the bank for giving him an account that was for mexican who dont have papers. It got me really angry because that account is not even for that purpose we offer the same accounts to everyone. and that account that he was talkin about is for people who have bad credit. he was just talkin bad about latinos. he was tryin to silence me, which i did not think it was correct.

Amy Tan is the writer of Mother tongue
Amy Tan is the writer of "Mother tongue" in the reading Tan explains how there are different languages and people are categories by the way they speak. For example tan explains on paragraph three how she was giving a talk to a large group of people then she notice that her mother was in the room and her mom had never heard her talk english that way. Tan speaks a different language when shes with her family or husband. There is more than one english theres different "englishes" that we all speak. we speak a different language to different people. Tan also explains on the reading how people who do not speak very well english are labeld as "limmited" english which she argues that is not right to label people because of the way they speak. One thing that she indicates is that the languages that are spoken in the family especially in immigrant families plays a big role in shaping the languages of a child, she explains this in paragraph 14. Tan also explains how people can be raises because of the way you speak her mother had gone to the hospital because she had an appointment waiting so anxiaously for the CAT scan results the hospital had lost them and they did not apologize. she was wooried because her husband and son had died from brain tumor and they did not even show any sympathy. people can be juged and critize by the way they speak a language. Tan indicates how a viarity of Asians go into math instead of english becuase thats what there really good at, but she decided to write. Tan learned that her mother is the one that helped her become the writer she is today.
In my own experiences i personally agree that with Tan how people do speak different languages which they have different tounges, but that does not give the right for others to be raises against those who you can say do not speak for example good english. That does not mean that person is not smart or doesn't know way there doing it basically does not defined the person. You can have an accent and people wont understand you, but that does not mean that you do not know what you are talking about. From my own experience i know people who have critize others because they do not speak good english or without an accent. and they are put down beacuse of the way they speak or they know the language, but do not want to speak it. One personal experince i had is when my grandma had to go to the doctor and i went with her beacuse she needed someone to translate for her we were waiting for a while and i had to go pick up my cousins and i was not going to make it in time to translate for my grandma and the girl in front desk spoke spanish so my grandma ask her if she can translate for her and i over herd the girl tell her co worker that she did not want to she did not like speakin spanish.
